I read a lot of guys saying things like, "yeah MS and Divx/Xvid support, when hell freezes over" and s1ht, but they always claim this because of the supposed favored use by movie pirates for divx and xvid. That it wouldn't make sense because MS is in bed with Hollywood etc.

Well, check out some torrent sites (why not use ftwonline.net -I made it myself, and searches all major and niche torrents sites among other, using teh Google) -a lot of the HD-DVD rips coming out (not just porn) is actually done on WMV! So, if MS' own format is now also popular with 'pirates', then there really is no reason for them to support those other codecs too.

Or maybe have it as a paid download, and share the spoils with the RIAA, for say $30? I'd pay that.
