LESLIE & THE LY'S - ZOMBIE ZILLER ?

Leslie Hall is not your typical sweater girl. She was born Mike Leslie and stands 5′10″ and weighs in at 200 pounds. As Leslie, the American satirical rap artist loves gem sweaters and clingy spandex. Hall’s band, Leslie & the LY’s have produced three albums. All of the music was composed using an Apple Computer and DIY software Garageband.

Hall has established the Mobile Museum of Gem Sweaters, which doubles both as her band’s official tour vehicle and gift shop. Fans of the band are known as Junior Gems.

Leslie & the LY’s are currently on tour in support of their third record, ceWEBrity. To coincide with the tour, they’re also releasing a music video (and single) called Zombie Killer (see below).

The audience at Hall’s concert venues is made up of eclectic teenage girls dressed in outrageous gem sweaters and gold spandex pants. During her shows, Hall pulls audience members onto the stage so she can check out their duds. Her fans often bring her gem sweaters and her collection has now grown to more than 400.

While Hall is thrilled at her quick rise to fame, she is concerned that the band will become a one hit wonder. Hall started his/her career by dressing up in an outrageous costume and vying for the Ames, Iowa Prom Queen title. The gimmick worked and the rest, as they say, is history.
